About this App
The FixCyprus Mobile Application has been developed by the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence, University of Cyprus under a Research collaboration with the Public Work Department of the Ministry of Transport Communications and Works of Cyprus and it is funded from the European Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026.
The app allows the citizens to easily and rapidly report issues related to the road network of Cyprus: potholes on the roads, damaged equipment such as safety barriers, signs, pegs, bus stations, lights, etc.
Terms of use and privacy policy
Conditions of use and privacy policy of the FixCyprus App (V 1.0.0)
The provisions below are intended to define the Conditions under which the Public Work Department of the Ministry of Transport Communications and Works of Cyprus («PWD» ) and KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence, University of Cyprus (the “KIOS CoE”), from now on the “Creators”, grants you access to the «FixCyprus» mobile application the “App”. The App has been developed by the KIOS CoE under a Research collaboration with the PWD and it is funded from the European Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026.The App is to be installed and used by whoever, from now on called “User”, after the creation of an account.
About this App
1. Acceptance of the general conditions of use
The Creators grant access to the App and the information contained therein provided the User has read and accept, without reserve, the terms and conditions mentioned in this document «Terms of Use». The Creators reserve the right to amend the Terms of Use without notifying the User.
It is advisable that the User checks periodically the applicable Terms of Use since the continued use of the Application is considered as acceptance of the applicable Terms.
2. Use of the Mobile Application «FixCyprus»
The User is bound to use the App in compliance with the applicable Laws and including the protection of personal data of third parties. The User may not use the app in any way that might harm the interests and rights of the Creators, its suppliers and/or its partners or other citizens.
The app allows the user to easily and rapidly report issues with the road network of Cyprus: potholes on the roads, damaged equipment such as safety barriers, signs, pegs, bus stations, lights, etc.
3. Warranties and limitation of responsibility for the use of the mobile App «FixCyprus».
In general, the Creators, and its various partners may not under any circumstances be held liable for direct or indirect damage, or for any other damages of any kind whatsoever, resulting from the use of the App
3.1. Information and Content Accuracy
The Creators as well as the as the PWD as administrator of the App shall make all reasonable efforts to publish information on the App that to the best of its knowledge is up to date, however they cannot be held responsible for any deficiencies in content or technical details that lead to any loss or damage.
The content and technical details of the App are provided for operations purposes and guidance of the User through the problem reporting process are subject to periodic changes.
The Creators may make improvements and/or changes to this App at any time and without notifying the User.
The use of this App, and consequently of the information or items submitted to the administrator of the App, PWD, is the sole responsibility of the User. The Creators are not responsible for any damages, demands, violations of laws including personal data that may result from the submission of the data of the User.
3.2. Access to the mobile App «FixCyprus»
Access to the App is provided by registration, which requires an email address and the creation of a password.
3.3. Actions of internet users
The Creators will in no way be held responsible for the actions of other internet users.
4. Intellectual property rights
All intellectual property rights of the Application, services, design and source code as well as all intellectual property rights in any content included in the Application (including text, photographs, images, animations, databases, graphics, icons, buttons, videos, recordings, logos, etc.) are protected by the intellectual property rights of the Creators.
The names and logos of the Creators that appear on the App are protected trademarks and/or trade names.
The trademark, logo, contents, designs, text, graphics, images, music, software, audio, videos, information and/or any other material that appears or is part of the App may not be used, copied, reproduced, represented, modified, transmitted, published, adapted, distributed, re-published, and exploited except where prior written consent is initially obtained from the Creators. Any violation may result in civil and criminal prosecution.
5. Policy on the protection of privacy
5.1. Principles
The App adapts the provisions of European law.
The App is complied with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
The Regulation strengthens the rights of European citizens and gives them more control over their personal data by providing a unified legal framework.
The Creators have defined a clear policy to protect personal data in accordance with the legal provisions on the subject as described above.
5.2. What personal data are collected and for what purpose
The Creators collect and process the following personal data to fulfil the purpose of operation of the App: email address and the location where the problem is recorded and is inextricably linked to the photography that the User chooses to submit with their report.
The personal data described above are absolutely necessary to:
5.3. Who can give his consent
The User confirms his acceptance and gives his clear, explicit and unequivocal consent for the processing of the above data. The User reserves the right to withdraw his consent at any time.
By using the App “FixCyprus» the User declares, in accordance with Cyprus and European civil law, that he is competent to exercise his rights, or – if they are minors - that they have obtained the prior valid consent of their parents or legal guardians. The Creators protect the privacy of minors and urge parents or legal guardians to check the online activities of their underage children.
Minors under 16 years of age may under no circumstances give their own consent to the processing of their personal data for the purposes of using the App.
The Creators cannot be held liable if the App issued without the above supervision and permission.
5.4. Who is responsible for the processing of the personal data
The PWD is responsible for the data processing from the App.
5.5. Who is the recipient of the personal data
The collected and processed personal data are reserved for the exclusive use of the data controller. Under no circumstances will such data be transferred to a third party.
5.6. What processing undergo your personal data
The user's data will be used in a lawful, fair and transparent manner and will be securely processed including the protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and loss.
The data will be exclusively used for no purpose other than that provided by the Application which is to:

The User may assert the rights provided by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016, for the protection of individuals with regards to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR).
5. 8. What security measures are taken to protect the User’s data
5.8.1. Quality
The PWD as the administrator of the App shall exercise due diligence to correct or delete inaccurate, incomplete, irrelevant, or prohibited data, and also to keep such data up to date.
5.8.2. Confidentiality
The Creators shall ensure that only authorized persons have access to and can only process data they require for the performance of their duties or which are essential to operational requirements, and that these same persons are informed of the principles and requirements of the Law on the protection of privacy with respect to the processing of personal data.
5.8.3. Security
For the security of personal data, the Creators have put in place appropriate technical and organisational measures against the accidental or unauthorised destruction, accidental loss, modification, access, and any other unauthorised processing of the information received on its app. The measures taken are of an appropriate level of protection taking into account the costs involved in their application, the state of the art in this area and the nature of the data to be protected and the potential risks.
5.8.4. User liability for their account

Personal data are currently stored indefinitely. The User can request that these personal data be deleted at any time via the email address of the App or by requesting it through the app using the function «Delete Account».
6. Settlement of disputes, jurisdiction and applicable law
These conditions of use are governed by the Cypriot law. Any dispute arising or is related to the use of the App will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Cypriot courts.
